Oats: My Breakfast Bestie

Anyone in my office will tell you that the very first thing I do when I come in is open my mason jar of overnight oats, slice a banana over the top, give it a sprinkle of cinnamon to finish it off, and devour the entire ensemble. I love my oats. I eat them at least five days a week, often cooking up a warm porridge on the weekends because I just can't go without. Oats are not only delicious, versatile, and super duper easy to make, but they are also crazy nutritious.

A half cup (one serving) of oats has 51g of carbs, 13g of protein, 5g of fat, and 8g of fiber. According to Healthline, these stats make oats one of the most nutrient-dense foods. Here's how I doctor up my jar of delicious overnight oats:

Soak overnight:

1/2 cup of Quaker old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup of 2% milk

Pinch of salt

Dash of cinnamon

1 tbsp (1/2 serving) of Jif smooth peanut butter

Sliced strawberries

Extra sprinkle of cinnamon

See, how easy is that? Honestly the best, on-the-go breakfast I have. This is hassle-free, delicious, and truly makes me feel UNSTOPPABLE going into my work day. Once I have gobbled down my breakfast, I instantly feel more energized, full, and focused.

I also absolutely adore my oats warm; there is a cozy, happy feeling I associate with my porridge. I'll make it on the weekend, simply putting 1/2 cup of oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl, sprinkling it with salt and cinnamon before popping it into the microwave for two and a half minutes. I still top it with my peanut butter (heat it up on the stove top for Instagram-worthy drizzle texture), strawberries, and banana, sometimes adding a couple of crushed walnuts for an extra boost of protein.

Other oat toppers that I love for variety: raspberry, blueberries, coconut flakes, honey (sweet boost!), almond slivers, craisins, and dark chocolate chips if you're really feeling extra special!

I can honestly say that my oats are a staple breakfast that has not failed me. They're great for your body, helping you control your physical and mental well-being. Test them out for yourself, you'll be hooked after day one!
